Moldovans Prefer Local Grapes to Imported Grapes
OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2008. Trading with import grapes on the Moldovan market is more difficult than trading with local grapes, informed the agricultural exchange "Agravista".
According to the cited source, the grapes grown in Moldova compete with the import ones, reason for which selling the latter is more difficult. Thus, the grapes imported from Romania and Greece are wholesaled at a price of 23 lei/kg, while white and red table grapes grown in Moldova are sold at a price of 6-14 lei/kg.
According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, this year the grapes crop may amount to 700 000 tons.
