VTB Suspends Project on Entrance to Uzbekistan
OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2008. VTB of Russia will suspend its projects on entrance to markets of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Moldavia. The Supervisory Board of VTB adopted a corresponding decision, the Russian bank said on its website.
The bank plans to develop its businesses in the CIS regions, where it is working, in 2008-2009. VTB currently works in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in the CIS area. The bank plans to increase assets of its subsidiaries in total assets of VTB by 6-7% by 2010.
The bank said that the change of bank's strategy is connected with global financial crisis. The bank said that the crisis changes market conditions of doing business. The bank said it will strictly control risk management and expenses, introduce changes to structure of assets.
