OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2008. Irkutsk-ROSNO branch has paid the agricultural company CJSC Nasledie specializing in cultivation and sales of cereals a damage compensation of 658 thousand roubles for the rape crops destroyed by the soil drought, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The insurance contract covering cereal crops was concluded in March 2008 and was valid till the end of the harvest. The insurance coverage protected the following cereal crops: spring wheat, spring barley, peas, and rape.

The crops had been insured against the following risks: natural phenomena posing a danger to agricultural production (drought, winterkill, frost, sweat or water saturation of soil, dust or sand storms, hail, avalanche, flood, mudflow, and earthquake), crop diseases, attacks by plant pests; fire, and unlawful third-party acts.

Due to the drought occurring in late April — early May, rape crops sprouted only partially, and the employees of the agricultural company CJSC Nasledie had to reseed the destroyed rape fields with wheat. The insurance compensation paid by ROSNO and used for arrangement of the reseeding enabled the company to reseed in due time and retain its expected revenue.
