FAS Presents Results of Oil Companies Monitoring
OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2008. FAS Russia presents the results of the monitoring carried out by FAS Russia's regional offices, with breakdown by the regions and main oil companies, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The information shows decreased prices on wholesale and retail markets of oil products by the end of October - beginning of November 2008 in comparison with maximum prices reported in June-August 2008.
In a number of cases the findings of the monitoring carried out by FAS Russia do not match the data submitted by the oil companies to the antimonopoly body. According to the antimonopoly authority, in some regions (for example, the Kamchatka region, the Koryaksky Autonomous District, the Magadan region, the Primorsky region (krai), that Chukotsky Autonomous District, the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, etc.) retail fuel prices have practically unchanged. Therefore, FAS Russia sent additional enquiries to the oil companies.
The antimonopoly authority will assess the actions of the oil companies under continuing decrease of oil prices on the global market after it will analyze the obtained information and monitoring data.
In addition, FAS Russia instructed its offices in the regions, where prices did not decrease considerably, to specially control the situation and undertake the necessary measures.
Also, on 12th November 2008 the FAS Russia's Commission on Turnover Penalties will make the final decision on imposing fines upon oil companies for abusing dominant position during the summer season.
