Estonia to Support Moldova in Environmental Protection
OREANDA-NEWS. On November 11, 2008 Representatives of the Estonian Environmental Investment Centre, on visit to Chisinau, made the above statement at meeting with Premier Zinaida Grecianii, reported the Official website http://gov.md.
The head of the delegation said that Estonia has a rich experience in environmental protection and water supply. He said that, over the last time, Estonia has undertaken a string of actions to this end, which are very efficient, and are likely to be implemented in Moldova as well.
The Estonian officials said that they could provide advice and exchange experience in the field of protection of water resources and supply with water and sewerage. They proposed several measures, among which the setting up of a national investment centre in the environmental field, due to be patronized by the government, and to coordinate the elaboration and implementation of projects in this area. At the same time, the Estonian experts proposed to work out a long-term plan due to see the revision of fiscal stipulations as regards the environment.
Prime Minister Zinaida Grecianii said that the Moldovan government one year ago approved a national strategy of supply with water and sewerage and an action plan to this effect, which is under implementation.
Grecianii also said that experts will closely study the proposal to create a centre like this in Moldova on the basis of the already existing government bodies. The premier emphasized that it is very important to study the practice of the countries which gained experience in the field and made progress due to projects of this kind.
