OREANDA-NEWS. On November 07, 2008 The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) approved the petitions of "Jarpeno Limited" on acquiring the rights that will allow determining conditions of entrepreneurial activities of "Imperial Energy" Ltd., "Imperial TransService" Ltd., "Allianceneftegaz" Ltd., "Rus Imperial Group" Ltd., "Stratum" Ltd., "Nord Imperial" Ltd., " Imperial Energy Tomsk Gaz" Ltd., "Sibinterneft" Ltd. and "Imperial Frak Service" Ltd., (further on referred to as the economic entities), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

FAS Russia processed and granted the petitions under Articles 28 and 33 of No.135 Federal Law "On protection of Competition".

At the same time, FAS Russia, under part 4 Article 6 of No.160 Federal Law "On Foreign Investments in the Russian Federation" processed the petition of "Jarpeno Limited" on preliminary approval of the transaction for acquiring the rights on indirect control over the above economic entities.

In accordance with the of No.57 Federal Law "Procedures for Foreign investments in the Business Entities of Strategic Importance for Russian national Defense and State Security", FAS Russia established that the above economic are not of strategic nature because they do not possess the rights for geological survey and (or) exploration and production of mineral resources in the sites of subsurface of the federal status.

As a result, FAS Russia found that the transactions did not require preliminary approval under the law on foreign investments in strategic industries.

Having processed the petitions and analyzed the status of oil fields, that were controlled by to the economic entities, FAS Russia did not see any ground not to approve the transactions. The antimonopoly authority did not set additional conditions for "Jarpeno Limited".
