Gdynia’s Port Channel Ready in 75%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2008. One of the most important investments among last few years is getting more advanced. Deepening has been already finished in avanport, turntable 1 and 2 area and Coal Basin, which recently is beeing visited more and more often.
Within the project "Modernisation of the Port Channel in the port of Gdynia" a deepening on section from turntable 3 to Helskie Quay has also been finished, which is important in terms of functioning of container terminals. Works on Helskie Quay itself, which is beeing used by BCT - Baltic Container Terminal Sp. z o.o. are advanced.
An effiecient realization of the investment made the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. to widen it to new tasks: widening of Inner Entrance and creating a deepwater station (13,2 m) along the Helskie Quay I. This works are planned to begin in the first quarter of 2009. They will contribute even more to the improvement of navigation and exploitation conditions in Port of Gdynia.
The aim of rebuilding of Port Channel is to deepen main port trails to approximately 13,5 m and to inforce the bottom along some of the quays. The project assumptions contain works on avanport, turntables 1, 2 and 3, basin III and Port Channel to Helian Quay II. The inforcement of the bottom will be proceeded along the quays: Holenderskie, Belgijskie , Francuskie, Norweskie, Sіowackie and Helskie I. The contractor of this works is consortium of Hydrobudowa, PRCiP and Conservice. The realization has begun on 04.03.2008.
