Progress M-65 Is to Undock Tomorrow
OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2008. Progress M-65 joint mission with the International Space Station is almost over. On Nov. 14, the command to initiate Progress-M65 departure from the ISS will be issued at 16:17 GMT. In 3 minutes after, the cargo vehicle will undock from the Zvezda Service Module port. The Progress has berthed to this port on Sept.17.
Progress M-65 was launched on Sept. 10, 2008, at 19:50:02 GMT. It was scheduled for rendezvous and docking to the ISS on Sept. 12. However, the docking was postponed following the request from the Mission Control Center in Houston caused by the hurricane threat for the center.
Progress M-65 delivered more than 2.5 t of cargo to the ISS. These were: food, propellant, water, scientific equipment, additional hardware for the ISS RS and USOS, crew provisions. While being attached to the ISS, the cargo vehicle assisted station pitch and yaw attitude control maneuvers, as well as two ISS reboost operations.
After departure, the Progress will continue is autonomous mission, which is also to cover some geophysical experiments. The mission of the Progress M-65 is to finish on Dec. 7, 2008.
