Dog Collar with GLONASS Sensor Gets an Award
OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2008. M2M Telematica got "Quality and Safety Assurance" award at the National Security- 2008 contest for designing the first dog collar with embedded GLONASS sensor, M2M Telematica informs.
"Conny,Vladimir Putin`s dog, was the first one to obtain the collar. It is an experimental model to be used for monitoring mobile objects. M2M Telematica, for the first time in Russia, has developed a technological platform for portable devices on the basis of GLONASS system", the company`s release states.
The device mounted in the collar provides the opportunity for positioning the dog with the help of an embedded small-size navigation module. The module obtains GLONASS signals and relays this data to a special server via GSM network links.
The owner of the dog has several ways to watch his pet: the information can be acquired in the communicator or in the PDA.
Several unique technical solutions have been implemented in the collar. For example, it is an embedded triple-axes accelerometer, which enhances user`s quality.
When the dog is noy moving, the device deactivates automatically, in order to maintain power-saving mode and to prolong autonomous operational lifetime of the collar. In addition, the owner can follow the motions of his dog in real time. The designed technological platform allows marketing a set of devices, both for individual, and for industrial application.
