FAS Initiated More Than 100 Cases Related to Motor & Aviation Fuel
OREANDA-NEWS. November 11, 2008. Since the beginning of 2008 FAS Russia initiated more than 100 cases related to the essential elements of violations of antimonopoly legislation on the markets of motor fuels and aviation fuel. Nearly half of the cases related to abusing dominant position on the markets, and the other half - to cartel collusions and concerted actions, reported the press-centre of FAS.
Statistics on antimonopoly violations on the fuel markets:
- concerted actions of economic entities - 47 cases;
- abusing dominant position - 54 cases;
Of which,
- motor fuel markets - 60 cases;
- markets for aviation fuel and lubrication materials, and refueling services in airports - 41 cases.
Following its investigations, in 2008 FAS Russia imposed fines for the overall amount more than 800 million Rubles. Antimonopoly violations were confirmed in 41 cases, proceedings were terminated due to voluntary elimination of the violations - in 8 cases; proceedings were terminated because antimonopoly violations were not proved - 12 cases. 40 cases are currently being investigated.
Peak prices for oil products were mainly reported in July - August 2008.
Prices for oil products have been going down since end of July 2008 as a result of the adopted measures and changing market conditions (in particular, decreasing oil prices on the global markets).
