OREANDA-NEWS  On 12 November was announced, that the fourth stage of realization of the project on construction of a protection of the Bratsk HPS comes to an end. The project was approved in 2003 at the meeting of the Antiterrorist Commission under the Governor of the Irkutsk region. The Bratsk HPS belongs to especially important objects of the Russian Federation. The fourth stage of closing access to the right-bank part of the dam crest cost RUR15 million for the city budget. Now contractors install the protection with a barbed wire which will finally separate the hydraulic construction from the railway. The works are planned to be completed by December. Video cameras will soon be installed there. Only workers of the HPS will have access to the HPS strictly by a permit. Next year the fifth stage of the project will be started in Bratsk that is closing of the left-bank part of the dam.

"As you see, the old barrier is bent. The reason is that the young people in the state of alcoholic intoxication driving cars tried to get here - to the dam crest. You see the result. This barrier will be dismantled, the protection devices which you see, will remain on its place. A gate at an end face at the entrance to the right-bank part of the dam will be set up" Sergey Kuznetsov, the Chief Engineer of the Bratsk HPS, said.
