OREANDA-NEWS. AB Mazeikiu Nafta informed that on November 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. petroleum products ignited during start-up of the back-up pump in the Visbreaking Unit. The fire started due to failure of the pump seal and a leak of a small quantity of hot petroleum products, reported the press-centre of Mazeikiu Nafta.

The unit was immediately shut down. The firefighters of the Fire and Rescue Service for Protection of AB Mazeikiu Nafta extinguished the fire in twenty minutes.

Two employees of the Company suffered minor injuries during the incident.

The incident will not have a significant effect on the Refinery operations.

Specialists are investigating the causes of the incident and losses.
