OREANDA-NEWS. November 10, 2008. The delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) took part in the 5th ICN Cartel Workshop held in Lisbon, Portugal, reported the press-centre of  FAS Russia.

Building on the strengths of past workshops, the 2008 ICN Cartel covered theoretical and practical approaches to enforcement in anti-cartel activity. During the three-day Workshop, discussion focused on specific phases of the enforcement process, namely detection, investigation and prosecution of cartels.

The crucial attention was paid to leniency program application, role of economic analysis under cartel detection, imposition of sanctions, etc. On every issue both hypothetical and real cases were presented allowing Workshop participants to share their own experience of anti-cartel activity and to learn the best world practices.

The ICN Cartel Workshops have taken a leading role in the discussion and dissemination of best practices on cartel-related issues.

The ICN experience shall be taken into consideration in bill drafting and enforcement activity of the FAS Russia.
