OREANDA-NEWS  On 10 November was announced, that prevention and decrease in the level of industrial traumatism, labour protection, protection of health and life of the personnel of IDGC of Centre, JSC are priority problems of the company. For nine months of 2008 costs for performance of actions for labour protection in the company equalled RUR 203,417k.

The company spent RUR 28,222k from this sum on accident prevention actions; RUR 128,341k, on individual protection devices for power workers; RUR 15,329k, on prevention of diseases in the company; RUR 31,525k, on general improvement of labour conditions.

"In the third quarter, 2008, under the traumatism prevention programme performance, the company executed measures for organisation of safe work," said Elena Kalinina, Head of the Service of Industrial Control and Labour Protection of the Company.  

Within the last month of the quarter, eleven subsidiaries of IDGC of Centre, JSC prepared for work in autumn and winter. They performed a number of emergency response drills of personnel on work under autumn and winter conditions, prepared heating and electrification systems, performed warming of industrial facilities and equipped personnel with winter overalls.

Work on bringing the operating system of labour protection in the subsidiaries in conformity with the requirements of Professional health and safety management system OHSAS-18001 international document went on.
So, from 22 to 24 September, the first audit of professional health and safety certified system was performed in Tver Electric Networks, a Tverenergo subsidiary. Under the pilot project, work on installation of professional health and safety system was completed in other production divisions of Tverenergo.

Within the quarter 10,834 working teams underwent check of their execution of protection rules at performance of production work. The efficiency of checks, i.e. the number of detected and prevented dangerous situations at workplaces increased by 5% according to last quarter indicators.  

The company's subsidiaries continue certification of work places according to working conditions. Within nine months, 76% of workplaces of the total number of work places needing check in 2008 were certified. 

Work on equipment of personnel with modern protection devices, including provision of teams with sets of bars  for installation of portable grounding without lifting on supports of overhead lines of electricity transmissions has increased by 24 %, compared to the last quarter indicators.

The performed work has allowed to reduce the level of industrial traumatism through the Company's fault by 25 % and avoid occupational diseases of the Company's workers.
