OREANDA-NEWS. November 7, 2008. In January-September 2008, Commercial Seaport of Taganrog OJSC handled 1.1 million tonnes of cargo (-24%, year-on-year), the company reports.

General cargo accounted for 49% of total throughput (548,800 tonnes), dry bulk – for 37%, liquid bulk cargo - 14%. 

In the reported period, transshipment of coal amounted to 296,800 tonnes, a 39-pct decrease. Transshipment of oil cargo fell by 52% to 152,500 tonnes, metal – by 55% to 108,700 tonnes.

In January-September the port increased transshipment of cement by 7 times to 204,700 tonnes. In the reported period, transshipment of grain amounted to 114,100 tonnes (+64%).

The port’s container throughput totaled 40,900 TEU (+65%).

Commercial Seaport of Taganrog OJSC is the main stevedoring company operating in the territory of Taganrog port. In 2007, it handled 2.1 million tonnes.
