Transmashholding Approved Engineering Design for TEM10
OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2008. The board of CJSC Transmashholding chief designers meeting in the city of Bryansk approved an engineering design for the TEM10 new perspective shunter diesel locomotive with the power of 1,000 kW (1,360 h.p.), electric DC transmission, and asynchronous traction motors, reported the press-centre of Transmashholding.
The meeting was attended by a wide range of representatives from railway transportation enterprises, industry, and other companies. The news was brought by the Transmashholding Public Relations Department.
The board decision will launch the next stage of the project, that is development of work design documents.
The project is being developed by Transmashholding member companies CJSC MC Bryansk Engineering Plant, JSC Kolomensky Zavod, as well as JSC VNIKTI, and a number of the industry companies, namely: JSC Transpnevmatika, CJSC ElectroSI, SE Zavod Electrotyazhmash, and other companies.
Under the recommendations given by JSC RZD representatives and in accordance with the decision taken by the board of chief designers, the engineering design of the new locomotive will be submitted for consideration to a number of main depots dealing with diesel shunter locomotives.
The new diesel locomotive will feature a number of advantages over the locomotives making the core of the JSC RZD and production enterprises’ shunter locomotive fleet (TEM2, TEM18DM, TEM7A, M62, TGM6A, ChMEZ). For instance, the TEM10 design performance factor will be 15-21% higher than that of other modern locomotives; design locomotive tractive coefficient will be 30-51% better; fuel range will increase by 50-165 %.
The work on the project in line with the chief designers’ recommendations is to be completed by January 30, 2009. The TEM10 pilot is scheduled for production by 2009.
