VivaCell-MTS Sponsored Renovation of Cultural Center in Zovaber
OREANDA-NEWS. November 6, 2008. VivaCell-MTS today announces the opening of the Cultural Center in the village of Zovaber after complete renovation of the first floor of the building. This project was accomplished through AMD 13.5 million contribution of VivaCell-MTS.
Zovaber, founded in 1878, is the birthplace of a famous writer-translator Ara Arakelyan. He has become famous for translations of the German national epos, Franz Kafka’s writings etc. However, he is not the only cultural figure of the village. In general the villagers always have shown interest in arts. The village has a Cultural Center built in 1971, which has not gone through any renovation since then, and the activity of nearly all hobby groups of the cultural center temporary ceased.
“Taking care of Armenian culture is peculiar to the behavior of a corporate citizen. We are always ready to help and to give our full support to any cultural initiative in marzes, and for that we need to have fully-operational and comfortable cultural centers put in place there”, - noted VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian during the ceremony of opening.
VivaCell-MTS has contributed AMD 13.5 mln for the complete renovation of the first floor of the Cultural Center including construction of walls, restrooms, and kitchen and painting walls. In addition water and sewerage pipelines were installed, and an air conditioning system was installed in the building, etc.
Love for the German literature is adding to the distinctiveness of the village. And now when the first floor of the Cultural Center which is now the Hall of Ceremonies (approximately 120 sq) is completely renovated, one should expect that hopefully Armenian-German literature forums and other cultural events will be held here.
The total amount of investment made by VivaCell-MTS in the framework of CSR programs in Gegarkunik region is AMD 151 million.
