OREANDA-NEWS. November 05, 2008. At the initiative of Aeroflot, the bank VTB24 and the company Assist, the authorities were called on to investigate into the causes and sources of attacks by hackers, which have been regularly attempted since 15th October, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

The company Assist and the bank VTB24 act as service providers and clearing centers in connection with Aeroflot’s internet ticket sales.

The attacks attempted by hackers caused numerous interferences with credit card payments via the internet, although neither personal data was put at risk nor were any customers financially harmed.

Aeroflot advises its customers to buy tickets at sales agencies or travel agencies directly. In the meantime, Aeroflot and its partners are taking all necessary actions to stop the attacks and to make payment via the internet safe again.

Customers may continue to request information considering flight schedules, availability and air fares at the website www.aeroflot.com. Furthermore, it is still possible to book tickets online. Payment, however, has to take place at one of Aeroflot’s sales offices.
