UTair Boosts Helicopter Services in Europe
OREANDA-NEWS On 01 November UTair Europe, a subsidiary of UTair (UTair Aviation, JSC), announced an expansion of its flight destinations and an increase in helicopter services throughout the territory of Europe. In the summer of 2008, UTair Europe signed a number of contracts with various European companies to install ski lifts produced by the world’s leading manufacturers like Doppelmayr, Tatrapoma, and Pomagalski. In September 2008, UTair’s Mi-171 helicopter set out to build five ski lifts at European ski resorts in Poland and Slovakia. The plan is to complete ski lifts in Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of the year.
Throughout 2008, UTair Europe’s helicopters were engaged under large contracts in Slovakia and Poland. As one of the tasks, they revamped the electricity transmission line in a mountainous area in eastern Slovakia in the Slovensky Raj (Slovak Paradise) national park. Contracted by one of the major mobile service providers in Europe, UTair installed a telecommunications tower in the mountains of Slovakia. For the task, which required pinpoint accuracy, a Mi-171 helicopter was employed.
UTair Europe specialists are consistently engaged in complicated installation projects, mainly to set up equipment on high-rise buildings in European cities.
UTair Europe was issued its Air Operator’s Certificate in 2006. The airline’s base airport and office are located at the Piestany Airport, Slovakia. With two Mi-8T and two Mi-171 helicopters in its fleet, the coverage area of the airline’s helicopter operations spans different countries in Western and Eastern Europe.
