OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2008.  The concreting of the foundation plate of the reactor building of the 1st unit of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2 was officially started on Oct 25 2008. Deputy Director General of Energoatom Concern-Director of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant Valery Lebedev, General Contractor of the project, Deputy Director of St.Petersburg Atomenergoproekt Aleskey Lapshin, Head of Directorate for the Construction of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2 Oleg Lebedev, Head of Administration of Sosnovy Bor Municipal District Valery Nekrasov attended the ceremony. 

Valery Lebedev said: “We are happy that today we are starting the key stage of the construction of the 1st unit of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant-2. In due time Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant will be decommissioned and Leningrad NPP-2 will replace it. The plant will have four units and will ensure the energy security of St.Petersburg and Leningrad region.”

Oleg Lebedev said: “Presently, we have completed the preparatory stage and are entering into the key phase of the project. For the moment, we are working at 17 facilities.”

The primate of the local church blessed the construction site.
