OREANDA-NEWS. On October 27, 2008 The program of cooperation between TNK-BP and Russian universities, colleges and other educational organizations received high appreciation at the contest “Corporate Donor of Russia – 2008” in the nomination “Support of Education and Development of Young People’s Potential”, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The contest is organized and held under the auspices of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. In 2008, the contest was held for the third time.

The program of TNK-BP was picked out owing to its comprehensive coverage and systemic approach. Dedicated oil and gas universities and colleges were chosen for training proficient human resources for the company according to the program.

TNK-BP did not confine its training activities to supporting promising students and developing stipend programs for them. The company started to cooperate directly and immediately with the educational organizations holding that they play a determining role in mass preparation of proficient specialists for the industry.

Support of educational organizations on a competitive basis is intended for promotion of the most progressive universities and colleges that are ready for changes and encouraging those that are only realizing the necessity of changing their educational and training processes. The Training Center at the Irkutsk State Technical University created in the framework of the program and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment was chosen as a model educational facility for implementation of the program.

All components of the program are aimed at training highly qualified and proficient specialists for the company enterprises. However, the overall effect of program implementation (including the level of education and training of students, improvement of the material and technical base of universities and colleges, and support of lecturers and instructors) far exceeds the internal demands of the company.

In 2008, the company has reached a new brave level. Developing high professional standards for workers and engineers in cooperation with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the company is trying to improve the situation with education and training of students in the national oil and gas industry.
