OREANDA-NEWS. On October 23, 2008 Russian Railways, JSC High-Speed Railways and the Spanish infrastructure company INECO SA signed a contract in Madrid to facilitate cooperation on the development of rail transport infrastructure in Russia, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

According to the contract, INECO will provide consulting services in the design, construction and operation of high-speed railway lines, conduct research into the construction of high-speed rail infrastructure and carry out feasibility studies.

The Spanish side could also provide technical assistance to control the quality of construction work when implementing projects and modernizing infrastructure and in the development of designs and projects for high-speed railways lines in Russia, in particular, the Moscow - St. Petersburg railway line.

A joint commission will be set up and meet every six months alternately in Russia and Spain in order to coordinate actions by the parties and to various organizational issues.

The contract will run for s three years with the option of a further extension.
