OREANDA-NEWS  On 28 October was announced, that about a year ago Altay grain processor PAVA (www.apkhleb.ru) published its plans to build a plant for deep processing of wheat grain in the Altay Territory. The company said the outputs would be vital wheat gluten, starches, syrups, alcohols, animal feed and wheat germ oil.

Following a series of negotiations and a more detailed study of technical characteristics and specific features of the production process, a decision was made to organize production of wheat germ oil as a separate business project.

This plant manufacturing wheat germ oil is unique for Russia. It will be the first enterprise in the country to use supercritical fluid extraction by carbon dioxide. The project will be implemented on the basis of Rebrikha flour mill.

This method of extraction allows to receive up to 98-99% of oil contained in a wheat germ. It significantly lowers the production cost while other methods of oil extraction do not provide such high indicators. Moreover, carbon dioxide has no impact on the quality of the end-product.

As PAVA marketing specialists forecast, wheat germ oil will be in keen demand on the domestic as well as international markets. It is popular all over the world as a product extremely beneficial for health. In particular, wheat germ oil reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, slows down the ageing process, protects nervous system. Owing to these properties the oil is widely used in pharmaceutics as well as perfumery and cosmetics industry. Besides, vegetable oil with addition of the oil extracted from wheat germ, becomes more shelf-stable and durable in roasting.
