GLONASS: 15 Satellites Operate Now in the Constellation
OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2008. According to the information provided by GLONASS Informational and Analytic Center, satellite №724 (position 18, orbital plane 3) was switched to nominal operational mode on Sept. 27, 2008. The satellite had been orbited on Sept. 25, 2008, together with satellites №№ 725 and 726 to be comissioned soon.
Totally, there are 17 satellites in the constellation now: 15 are operating nominally, 2 are to be comissioned. GLONASS monitoring station located in Korolev, manages to find its own position with 5m- accuracy when 6 satellites are visible simultaneously.
