Yushchenko Cancelled Seven Decrees Cancelling Timoshenko’s Resolutions
OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2008. Seven decrees appeared suddenly on the official website of the President of Ukraine; Viktor Yushchenko‘s decrees render invalid his own earlier decrees on the suspension of the Cabinet of Ministers resolutions.
Among other issues, the validity of the decree for the following sales of the open joint stock companies: Turboatom, Feodisia Ship Building Company ‘Sea’, Scientific Research Institute of Electromechanic Instruments, Scientific Research and Designing Institute of Nuclear and Power Pump Building, Krivoy Rog Oxidized Ore Mining and Processing Works and Kherson State Works ‘Pallada’ was terminated starting from this date. Furthermore, a decree was also issued terminating the validity of the Cabinet’s resolution concerning the sale of the open joint stock companies Dneproenergo, Donbassenergo, Zakhidenergo and State Energy Generating Company ‘Centerenergo’ in 2008.
Both resolutions had earlier been suspended by the President, whose reason was motivated by their non-compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine (Viktor Yushchenko submitted a constitutional enquiry to the Constitutional Court concerning each of them) and because, in the President’s opinion, the companies intended for sale by Timoshenko ‘are of strategic importance for the economy and security of the State’ and ‘ensure the vitality of the State in general’ and some of them even in ‘the defence of the State’.
