OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2008. Belarus imposes marking requirements for juices, notebooks, monitors and printers on May 1, 2009. The decision is contained in Resolution No 1508 of the Council of Ministers, reported the Official website www.government.by.

Marking requirements are imposed on fruit juices (including grape must) and vegetable juices, indigested sludge and alcohol free juices, with or without sugar or other sweeteners in consumer containers.

Marking requirements are also imposed on notebooks, monitors (including displays, video displays) and printers apart for second-hand.

The resolution also imposes marketing requirements for windshield washers and cleansers for glass in containers of any capacity and also on antifreezes (including tosols) and ice-protection liquids in containers of any capacity. Earlier the requirements were effective for these goods in consumer containers.


The list of goods subject to marking requirements includes beer, mineral water, motor oil, vegetable oil, sturgeon roe, finished or tinned fish, fizzy drinks and low alcohol drinks, powdered cleansers, coffee, tea, footwear, cell phones, audio- and video tapes, discs and TV sets.


Imposing marking requirements is aimed at ensuring government control over the turnover of these goods and preventing the shadow turnover of these goods. Since certificates of origin of products should be produced to acquire identification signs, the marking acts as a proof of quality.
