OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2008. The corporation is planning to start its production in 2011.

OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2008. Vice President of TVEL OJSC Pyotr Lavrenyuk says that in 2009–2010 the corporation is planning to finish the necessary paperwork. It will have to work hard as the operating requirements for the new fuel will be much tougher: the fuel will be used for 5–6 years. NPP-2006 reactor has an enhanced capacity of 1,200MW with a power maneuvering range of 25%.

Lavrenyuk points out that the new fuel will have a longer operation cycle – the refueling will be carried out each 24 months against 6 months at present.

Lavrenyuk says that TVEL is actively cooperating with Energoatom Concern in transiting to a longer fuel cycle: particularly, in 2011–2012 the 1st unit of Balakovo NPP is supposed to switch to 18-month fuel cycle.

The introduction of the new fuel is expected to give a profit of 36mln-360mln RUR a year per unit.

NPP-2006 project is presently being applied at Novovoronezh NPP-2 and Leningrad NPP-2.
