OREANDA-NEWS  On 23 October was announced, that ‘Baikalwestcom’, a 100% subsidiary of Sibirtelecom, OJSC, plans the most massive expansion of Wellcom net for the whole history of its existence: the company will install more than 50 new base stations of CDMA standard by the end of this year.

In the first turn, the existing zone of coverage on the Baikal highway will be extended and optimized, as well as those in Irkutsk, Angarsk, Shelekhovo, and Usolye-Sibirskoye. Modernization works will finish to the end of October. The capacity of the CDMA net in these cities will increase, the speed of wireless Internet will be higher.

The following stage is development of a network in Bratsk, Baykalsk, Zima, Cheremkhovo, Sayansk, Slyudyanka, Ust-Ilimsk, Tayshet, Nizhneudinsk, Kuytun, Ust-Kut, Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky, Chun, Igirm, Tulun. Mounting will be finished by the end of this year. The top-priority plans of the company comprise including all settlements of Irkutsk region with population of more than 20 000 people into coverage zone.
