OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2008. A real GDP growth made up 6.9 percent over nine months against the same period of 2007 (5.5 percent in September against September 2007).

Economics Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn is convinced that under conditions of a "sag" in the industry that is mainly oriented towards external markets where a recession is observed, preservation and even enhancement of positive dynamics of the internally-orientated sectors of the economy enabled to support the GDP growth at a high level.

Among the aggregated types of economic activities, the highest rates of gross value added is demonstrated by the agriculture, activities of transport and communications, as well as by trade. Their total contribution to the GDP growth made up 3.3 percentage points (with 6.9 percent of the GDP growth).

Getting high yield of grain crops and leguminous cultures as a result of increasing the crop capacity of the fields and expansion of the yield area became one of the main factors of gross value added growth in agriculture by 15.7 percent ("minus" 4.9 percent over nine months of 2007).

Growth of gross value added in transport and communications by 10.4 percent (9.3 percent in January-September of 2007) took place, primarily, due to high demand in services of these types of economic activities on the part of main branches-users.

At the same time, volumes of gas transit and pumping by trunk pipelines increased (by 15.7 percent and 11.3 percent respectively).

Growth of gross value added in trade by 9.4 percent is related to an increase in the volume of export-import operations (import of goods increased by 58.3 percent in January-August) and to maintaining purchasing capacity of the population at a high level under conditions of slowing down the inflation processes.
