OREANDA-NEWS. On October 16, 2008 Company KAZAKHMYS PLC, common shares of which are traded in Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) official list of the first category, provided KASE the press release where informs on the following, reported the press-centre of KASE:

Kazakhmys PLC informed that on October 12, 2008 at 11 p.m. occurred the fatal accident on South Zhezkazgan mine.

According to the preliminary information at the emergency stop of the mine cage six employees fell out to the mine shaft.

The management of Kazakhmys presents condolences to relatives of perished employees.

At present were created two investigation commissions, one of which consists of government bodies representatives and the second is the company's internal commission. Works on the shaft are suspended till government commission's decision.

More detailed information will be provided by results of the commission's conclusion.
