IMF Predicts 6,5% GDP Growth in Moldova in 2008-2009
OREANDA-NEWS. October 16, 2008. According to IMF World Economic Outlook 2008 report, this year inflation rate in Moldova will reach 13.7% and the next year- 9.7%, respectively.
According to the report, Moldova is the leader in CIS on the current account deficit. In 2008 the corresponding indicator will make 19.9% and 19.1% in 2009 or 12-13 times higher than the average for the region.
According to World Economic Outlook, the highest growth in CIS will be registered in the countries-power suppliers such as: Azerbaijan - 16.4% in 2008 and 16.0% - in 2009 as well as Turkmenistan - 10.8% and 10.3 %, respectively.
Economic growth in Russia will fall from 7% up to 5.5%. The largest decrease will be registered in Georgia – from 12.4% in 2007 up to 3.5% in 2008, and 4% in 2009. According to IMF, it is stipulated by Russia's military intervention in August- September 2008.
The pace of economic growth in Ukraine will decline from 6.4% in 2008 up to 2.5% - in 2009. Overall world’s GDP growth will make 3%.
