Russian Managers of Nuclear Industry Visited Volgodonsk NPP
OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2008. A group of managers of nuclear industry of Russia visited Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant on Oct 16 2008.
Deputy Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Alexander Lokshin, Director of Atomenergoprom OJSC Vladimir Travin and Director General of Energoatom Concern Sergey Obozov visited the construction site of the 2nd unit to see the situation on the site and to meet with the mangers of the contractor organizations.
The manager of the project, the director of Nizhniy Novgorod Atomenergoproekt OJSC (the general contractor of the project) Valery Limarenko made a report on the state and prospects of the construction. “We are sure that we will meet all deadlines and the unit will be launched in 2009,” Limarenko said.
He pointed out that the project was being implemented according to the schedule. On Oct 15 2008 the unit received first electricity for own needs.
The supply of electricity for own needs is one of the key stages of a construction project allowing the constructors to carry out start-up and testing operations with no problems.
In Sept 2008 the contractor organizations carried out construction and installation work worth a total of 701.6mln RUR with the plan being 634.7mln RUR.
45 contractor and sub-contractor organizations and a total of 4,006 people are involved in the project for the moment.
In order to effectively control the construction Oct 1 2008 NIAEP established a construction-installation department with 500 employees.
