OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2008. RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with IMF Executive Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn. The head of RA government and the top IMF official discussed the global economic crisis, the downward trends of oil prices and their eventual implications on Armenia's economy. The parties have referred to the possibility of establishing an IMF representative office in Yerevan. According to a preliminary arrangement, the latter shall back Armenian reforms. Earlier a World Bank representative came to Yerevan with a similar mission which was estimated as quite successful on the part of the Armenian authorities. The interlocutors agreed to take up the matter this November when an IMF delegation is scheduled to arrive in Yerevan.

The Prime Minister touched upon Armenian-Turkish relations by stressing that our country has so far failed to set any pre-conditions as to establishing diplomatic ties with Turkey, while Ankara keeps on stipulating a number of specific pre-conditions.

Later today the RA Prime Minister met with Georgian Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidze. The parties spoke about the preparations for the upcoming session of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission, due on October 27-28 in Tbilisi. The two counterparts then evoked the question of latest regional developments.
