OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2008. During a press-conference in Sofia on Oct 9 2008 the Vice Premier of Russia Sergey Sobyanin confirmed the deadlines for implementing the Belene NPP project in Bulgaria.

“During the meeting today we confirmed our readiness to implement all joint projects. This year we will order all main assemblies for Belene NPP. In Mar 2009 we will start concreting operations. In early 2014 we will commission the first reactor (unit 2), in July 2015 – the second reactor (unit 1),” Sobyanin said after the last meeting of the Russian-Bulgarian inter-governmental commission on economic and scientific-technical cooperation.

The meeting took place in Sofia on Thursday. The Russian delegation was led by Vice Premier of Russia Sergey Sobyanin, the Bulgarian one – by Economy and Energy Minister of Bulgaria Petar Dimitrov.
