Belgazprombank Theatre Project Marked with UNESCO Diploma
OREANDA-NEWS. October 09, 2008. A Midsummer Night’s Dream performance marked the end of the international festival ‘A Theatre Week with Belgazprombank’ that was held under the ‘Viewing Shakespeare’s Plays’ slogan, reported the press-centre of Belgazprombank.
At the closing ceremony, Victor Babariko, chairman of the Board of Belgazprombank, delivered a greeting speech to the viewers and organizers of the festival.
The theatre week appeared a bright event in Minsk’s cultural life. Famous foreign and national theatres presented to the Belarusian public their best Shakespearean productions. Vilnius’ Meno Fortas showed Othello, St. Petersburg Vera Komissarzhevskaya Theatre presented their version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Minsk dramatic Yanka Kupala and Maxim Gorky theatres showed Macbeth and Taming of the Shrew.
Belgazprombank’s significant contribution in support of the art of drama has been highly appraised by the public and reputable international organizations. At the closing ceremony, Antonina Mikhaltsova, general secretary of the Belarusian Centre for the UNESCO International Institute of Theatre, awarded Victor Babariko an honorary diploma ‘For great contribution in promotion of international cultural liaisons, support of Belarusian theatres and for organizing ‘A Theatre Week with Belgazprombank’ festival’.
