Seliverstovo Workshops to Start Repairs of Agricultural Machinery
OREANDA-NEWS On 08 October was announced, that the busiest period for Seliverstovo, the separate unit of Selhozholding Ltd. is nearing its completion – harvesting of grain is almost over; soon, fall cultivation of the soils will be the main activity. Then, workers of the enterprise will tackle maintenance and servicing of the machinery and aggregates, getting them ready for the sowing campaign in 2009. Seliverstovo workshops are already prepared for this work.
As the crop currently harvested in the Volchihinsky district is the first since PAVA set up a subsidiary here, next-year crop depends on quality of soil cultivation during this season. Lands were turned over to the new owner in neglected condition – they had not been cultivated properly, the scientifically-based crop rotation scheme was disregarded. That is why soil-cultivating complexes in Seliverstovo will be working in the fields almost until winter snows, while the weather permits. Thorough fall cultivation of the soil will assist weeds removal and leveling. Weed-free and even fields are a vital condition for efficient operations of the modern harvesting machinery, which is now being purchased for this enterprise.
Upgrade of the machinery fleet, purchase of fertilizers, herbicides and quality seeds for Seliverstovo are supported by the parent company, OJSC PAVA. Agricultural production is a relatively new line of business for PAVA which has been operating in the grain processing industry for more than 9 years. The company will undoubtedly be successful in this new area as well. There are significant funds already allocated for its development, and it shows serious approach to investment: PAVA purchases modern, highly efficient machinery for its subsidiaries, along with high-quality seeds of released variety crops; introduces progressive cultivation technologies.
In the nearest future, arable units working in the company’s structure are well placed to gain reputation of rapidly developing enterprises, and in time will repeat the success of the parent that deservedly ranks as the largest grain processor in the Asian part of Russia. Following the results of 2007, when PAVA shipped overseas 17% of the total volume of exported flour, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade declared it Best Exporter of the Industry.
