Konstantin Korishenko Nominated as New President of MICEX
OREANDA-NEWS On 06 October was announced, that MICEX, the largest integrated exchange in Russia and Central & Eastern Europe, confirmed the Board's nomination of Konstantin Korishchenko as its new President, pending shareholder approval. The appointment will be voted on at the Extraordinary General Meeting ("EGM") scheduled.for 24 October 2008. Korishchenko, who was previously Chairman of the Board at MICEX, replaces Alexander Potemkin who leaves the company with immediate effect to become an advisor to the Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
MICEX also confirms the appointment of Sergei Lykov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of MICEX, as new Chairman of the Board.
Another EGM, scheduled for 2 December 2003, will re-elect the Board of MICEX Group.
Korishchenko has extensive experience in the financial sector, including regulatory bodies. At the Central Bank of the Russian Federation he was Deputy Chairman in charge of the country's exchange rate policy and its gold and foreign exchange reserves. Before that he held managerial positions at Troika Dialog, a Russian investment company (managing director, 2001-2002); as head of RTS, the dollar-denominated Russian stock exchange (2000-2007); and at the Central Bank (from 1992). He was born in 1958.
