OREANDA-NEWS. On October 01, 2008 The UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Ukraine and representatives from the Zaporizhzhia regional council, during their meeting in Zaporizhzhia, signed an agreement on the implementation of the TACIS local development project in Zaporizhzhia region.

The project is designed to create a favorable environment for the region's stable social and economic development by realizing 40 infrastructure development projects in regional villages and towns with a population of up to 10,000 people. Priority directions in the work are healthcare, energy, ecology, and transport.

According to the project's representatives, the TACIS local development project will be implemented in eight districts in the region in 2008-2011.

Public micro-projects will be implemented at the expense of 50% of project funds, 45% of local budget funds, and 5% of public funds.

UN representatives also signed a partnership and cooperation agreement with eight district administrations and district councils that will participate in the realization of the project.
