OREANDA-NEWS. October 01, 2008. The President and NSDC’s competence on arms export abroad should be transferred under the Government’s control. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko told a press conference.

According to her, the Government is capable to introduce order in this sphere when the arms export abroad will be within the Government’s competence.

The PM reminded that today all trade in arms is under direct control of the President and National Security and Defense Council and the Government is practically pushed aside.

The Premier stated that Government would send the CRO of Ukraine representatives to clear up where arms had been sent from the Ukrainian ship “Faina” captured by the sea rovers near the cost of Somali. “All data the Government has will be submitted to a special investigating commission of the Verkhovna Rada on investigating illegal trade in arms which, unfortunately, occurs in Ukraine,” Yulia Tymoshenko told.
