Belarus’ Domestic Debt Falls 4% in January-August
OREANDA-NEWS. October 2, 2008. In January-August 2008, Belarus’ domestic debt fell 4% to Br6105,4 billion.
The debts under the guarantees of the government of Belarus were down 8.9% to Br1742,5 billion (28.5% of the total domestic debt). The central government debt made up Br4362.9 billion (down 0.2%).
According to the Finance Ministry, in January-August 2008, Belarus’ foreign debt reduced 1% to make up Br4811,8 billion, or USD 2.3 billion (as of September 1, 2008). The approved limit is USD 6 billion.
The debts under the guarantees of the government of Belarus totaled Br648,7 billion (13.5% of the total foreign debt). In January-August 2008, this figure was down 2%. The central government debt reached Br4163,2 billion (86.5%). According to the Finance Ministry, in the period under review, the central government debt was down 0.9%.
In January-August 2008, the debt ratio slid down 2.8% and as of early September reached Br10,92 trillion.
