Astana Hosts Session of Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy
OREANDA-NEWS. On October 1-2, 2008 in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) the XXVIII Session of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) will take place, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The agenda of the Session consists of the number of issues of great interest for the antimonopoly authorities of the CIS member-states such as realization of the system of control over observance of competition conditions at granting state aid, reforming f the railway transport, competition policy in housing market, etc.
The results of the activity of the Headquarters on joint investigations of violations of the antimonopoly legislation in CIS member-states will be considered as well. The members of the ICAP will discuss specific steps on the realization of recommendations that are reflected in the Report on the state of competition in the air transportation markets of the CIS member-states which was prepared by the Headquarters. It is worth mentioning that this Report was discussed at the meeting of the Commission on economic issues under the Economic Council of the CIS on July 9, 2008. Taking into account the importance of the document it was decided to consider this document at the Session of the CIS Economic Council on September 12, 2008.
During the Session the participants will consider the results of the market researches in telecommunication sphere and the issues of the preparation of the grain markets researches in the CIS member-states, conducted by the Headquarters.
It is necessary to underline that the forthcoming Session is timed to the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Council' establishment.
Besides, on October 3, 2008 the International Conference "Role of the Antimonopoly Policy in Increase of the Competitiveness of a State" organized by the Agency for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held.
