FAS Fined Rosneft 300 000 Rubles
OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2008. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) fined "Rosneft" Oil Company" OJSC 300 000 Rubles for failure to present information upon a request of the antimonopoly authority, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
Earlier FAS Russia requested several oil companies to present information necessary for antimonopoly investigation of the cases initiated for violating Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition". The Antimonopoly Service believed that "Lukoil" OJSC, "Gazpromneft" OJSC, "TNK-BP Holding" OJSC, "Surgutneftegaz" OJSC and "Rosneft" Oil Company" OJSC had abused their dominant position.
The deadline for executing the FAS Russia's request was 1st August 2008; however, only "Surgutneftegaz" OJSC presented the necessary information. FAS Russia had to carry out certain measures of control against other companies with the help of the Russian Ministry of Interior.
Failure to present information upon a request of the antimonopoly authority constitutes an offence endangering public administration, and the companies-violators are held administratively liable under the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations.
Having considered the administrative case against "Rosneft" Oil Company" OJSC, FAS Russia found the company guilty of the above offence and imposed a 300 000 Rubles administrative fine.
