Direct Investments from EU to Ukraine Grow by USD 10 bln
OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2008. As of July 1, 2008, the volume of direct investments to the Ukrainian economics from the EU countries amounted to USD 28.8 billion or 79.1% of the total investment volume to Ukraine (as of July 1, 2008 - USD 18.5 billion or 76.6%), the State Statistics Committee reported.
The main countries-investors sharing over 80% of total investment volume from the EU are: Cyprus - USD 8,306.200 billion (28.8% total investment volume from the EU), Germany - USD 6,757.200 billion (23.4%), the Netherlands - USD 3,127.100 billion (10.9%), Austria - USD 2,411.100 billion (8.4%) and Great Britain - USD 2,248.600 billion (7.8%).
Significant investments from the EU countries are concentrated in the industrial enterprises (23.8%). Among branches of processing industry, many investments are involved in metallurgy production and production of ready metal products as well as manufacturing foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco products.
Besides, enterprises of the financial area remain attractive for investments (19.6%) as well as establishments involved in real estate operations, rental services, engineering and services for businessmen (9.3%).
In 2007, foreign investors invested USD 8,710.600 billion in Ukrainian economics. CIS countries invested USD 632.9 million (7.3% total volume), other countries - USD 8,077.700 billion (92.7%).
