OREANDA-NEWS  On 24 September was announced, that domestic insurers increased their Gross Premiums Written (GPW) by 47%, y/y to USD 2.3bn in 1H2008, which significantly exceeded 1H2007 growth (26.9%, y/y). The highest GPW growth was seen in personal insurance (58%, y/y vs. 34% in 1H2008), while life insurance GPW increased by 60%, y/y (66%, y/y in 1H2008). At the same time Claim Payments rose by 89%, y/y (100% in 1H2007) to USD 0.5bn, resulting in 22% claims to premiums ratio (23% in 1H2008).
