OREANDA-NEWS  On 23 September was announced, that “KEGOC” JSC completed repair of 5 lines of 500kV OHTL “North-South” transit and the normal scheme of power supply – parallel work of Kazakhstan’s power systems with the power systems of Central Asia and Russia was restored. Repair of the lines have been carried out for the purpose of preparation to autumn-winter maximum (2008-2009).

From 10th of July to 5th of August present year during the period of scheduled repair of 500kV OHTL and separate work of North part of UPS Kazakhstan from South part, a short-time load disconnection in Almaty region was for technical and weather reasons. 

On 13th of July, because of weather conditions (dust storm near 500kV “Frunze” SS) a disconnection of 220kV shunting lines took place. At 02:46pm (14:46 Astana time) by action of emergency control automatics (ECA) Almaty power center separated from UPS for isolated work with restriction up to 205 MW. These arrangements have prevented the incident spread and have excluded the possibility of complete blackout of whole region. Emergency situation has been liquidate in 14 minutes.

On 29th of July, by action of relay protection (RPA) a line L-5313 (Almaty – YuKGRES) has been disconnected, separating Almaty power center for isolated work and with restriction up to 209MW. Power supply has been restored in 18 minutes.

On 3rd of August because of strong wind at 04:03pm (16:03) by RPA action, the lines: L-5120 (AES Ekibastuz – Nura) and L-5138 (Nura – Agadyr) have been disconnected. For prevention of 220kV grids congestion and possible cascade development of incident there was switching off up to 134MW of consumption in Almaty power center. At 05:34pm (17:34) in conditions of continuing wind impact, the linesL-5120 (AES Ekibastuz – Nura) and L-5138 (Nura – Agadyr) have been successfully activated. Emergency situation has been liquidated in 1 hour and 31 minutes.

Present time the preparatory works for turning on Zhambyl GRES to provide continuity of power supply for the consumer in the south of Kazakhstan after finishing of electric supply from Kyrgyzstan connected with vegetation period.
