Electricite de France Intends to Buy Minority Share of Inter RAO UES
OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2008. Electricite de France is interested in buying a minority share in the authorized capital of Inter RAO UES, EDF Director for Europe Marc Boudier said during a press-conference in Sochi.
He said that EDF was negotiating with Inter RAO UES for buying a very small share in that company’s authorized capital.
It is not the first report about EDF’s intention to become Inter RAO’s shareholder. Presently, Inter RAO has a small package of reacquired stock (4%), part of which (2%) has been earmarked for an optional program. The board of the company has decided to sell the remaining stake to a strategic investor.
President of Inter RAO Yevgeny Dod said that EDF might be the only bidder for the package. Inter RAO does not hurry to sell the shares as it does not need surplus funds for the moment.
