OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2008. The Russian theme park may be created on the model of American Disneyland but based on characters and legends of Ancient Russia. This is the opinion expressed by Igor Burakov, the executive director of Rostov region`s Investment Development Agency.

Be reminded that the project of Azov City entertainment zone was presented at Sochi-2008 Investment Forum, which opened yesterday. But the authorities of the region are poised to create more than just a gambling oasis – they are planning to develop the entire coastline area, building theme parks, theatres and other leisure facilities.

Igor Burakov also mentioned that developing new entertainment space on the Azov coast “from scratch” will make it possible to create completely unique facilities. Nothing of the kind may be found abroad. Therefore, in the opinion of its ideologues, this tour product will definitely find its estemeers.

The leisure zone, including Axov City, is located on the southern coast of the Azov Sea, not far from the Don`s estuary. The overall developable area is 6.2 thousand hectares. Currently about 79 hectares are occupied by beaches. Next to them, on the area of 300 hectares, it is proposed to build the first line of new resorts and hotels. Both family leisure and extreme leisure facilities are planned for construction.

The existing leisure facilities attract about 200 thousand people a year. After the implementation of the wide-scope projects, the number of visitors is supposed to increase up to 3 million people.

Development of the Azov Sea tourism and entertainment zone needs a lot if investment. It is for them that the authors of the project came to Sochi Forum.
