Ukraine Increases Expenditures on Development by 79,5%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2008. In the draft State Budget for 2009 the Government has increased expenditures on development by 79,5% more as against the previous year.
This was disclosed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko presenting the draft 2009 State Budget. “We have allocated expenditures on development of every field, every sphere,” the Head of Government stressed.
Yulia Tymoshenko noted that the development of science and culture is a priority today for the Government. Thus, the PM said that the 2009 budget expenditures on science and education increased by 33% and, in particular, for scientific-technical activity increased by 1.4 billion UAH. The PM informed also that financing of scientific elaborations of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine increased by 35% and scientific elaborations of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences – by 43%.
At the same time, according to the Head of Government, expenditures on culture will be increased twofold and amount to 7.1 billion UAH. Yulia Tymoshenko also noted that for completing the series of national films about culture and history the 2009 budget provides funds three times as much as compared with 2008.
“Believe me, every budget faces difficulties with allocating such funds for this direction but we change priorities and we are ready to give these money additionally,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
