Ukraine Reports 7,1% GDP Growth Over 8 Months
OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2008. Over 8 months of 2008 the GDP growth at the rate of 7.1% has been fixed in Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced that on opening a Gov’t sitting.
Premier has also stressed that from August 2007 to August 2008 the rate of GDP has upped by almost 11%, which “is a rather record showing.” “Despite overall financial crises, instability in the world which is being observed in all constituents of the economy, even despite certain crisis phenomena in Ukraine’s politics we can see a sustainable growth of economics,” the head of Government said.
Besides, Yulia Tymoshenko underlined that firstly over the years of independence a record showing of GDP growth has been fixed at the account of added value in agriculture. So, gross value added in agriculture where over the recent years stagnation and decline had been observed, has upped by 24.4%. Prime Minister noted that in trade area growth of gross value added has fixed at the rate of 10.7%, in transport and communications – 8.3%, in processing industry – 7.3%.
“Over 8 months of its activity the Gov’t has not only rectified the tendency of recent years which were characterized with GDP stagnation but we have achieved a serious economic growth,” Yulia Tymoshenko urged.
