OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2008. Since 2005, BNP Paribas, world tennis's number 1 partner, has actively supported the development of the Fed Cup, the first world's international team competition in women's tennis, now known as the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, reported the press-centre of BNP Paribas.

In the 2008 finals on 13 and 14 September, the Russian and Spanish teams faced each other at the Club de Campo in Madrid.

A loyal and energetic tennis sponsor for 35 years, BNP Paribas is going to seize the opportunity of this prestigious tennis competition to share its enthusiasm for sport with its Russian and Spanish customers through a major PR campaign.

BNP Paribas is a key financial stakeholder in both Russia and Spain. The Group has 3,900 employees in Spain serving 4 millions private and institutional customers. With more than 100 branches and ATM machines, BNP Paribas offers a diverse range of products and services.

In February 2008, BNP Paribas opened its first 3 branches in Moscow and now provides an extensive array of personal, business and institutional banking services in Russia. By 2011, the group will have added 80 branches to its nationwide banking network and have installed many more ATMs.

BNP Paribas is one of the today's 10 leading banking companies, having quadrupled in size in the last decade. It has a presence in more than 85 countries and now generates nearly 60% of its turnover outside France. BNP Paribas is one of the global establishments which is least affected by the credit crunch thanks to the diversity of its core business lines, its geographical diversification and its tough risk management culture.

BNP Paribas will be using this international sporting event to build on its global corporate communications campaign, launched at the time of Roland Garros 2008, with a TV commercial on a tennis theme, broadcast on Spain's and Russia's terrestrial TV network. BNP Paribas's planet-wide tennis-related PR campaign underlines the core values shared by BNP Paribas and tennis: a global dimension, universal rules, a sense of anticipation, the capacity to amaze, fair play, and precision.

BNP Paribas and tennis
In 2008, BNP Paribas celebrates the 35th anniversary of its association with the tennis world. Since 1973, BNP Paribas has been actively involved in this sport, regularly increasing its support – both locally and internationally, for families, schools and the community.

Historically, BNP Paribas has had a special relationship with every facet of the tennis world: official global sponsor of Roland Garros for 34 years, sponsor of the Davis Cup since 2001, of the Fed Cup since 2005 and of the BNP Paribas Masters since 1986, as well as actively supporting numerous other international competitions (WTA Bank of the West Classic in California, the Monte Carlo Master Series, BNP Paribas Strasbourg Women's Open, Grand Prix de Lyon, etc.). BNP Paribas also supports tennis locally in France, and is involved in more than 550 tournaments, including the BNP Paribas family trophy, various training programmes set up by the French Tennis Federation and Yannick Noah's “Fete le Mur” association.
